DIO Coffee
2019
Branding, Illustration, Packaging
DIO COFFEE is a new coffee brand located in London Canary Wharf in October 2019.
In the beginning, the client directed the brand as Japanese-style hand-brewed coffee. I tried to present a feeling of conflict because the oriental Japanese coffee with the retro-style characters will be in sharp contrast with the modern Canary Wharf. This will make the brand standout and more attractive to the customers.
Ukiyo-e is a genre of Japanese art that flourished from the 17th through the 19th centuries. The term ukiyo-e translates as “pictures of the floating world”, and having a coffee is like holding a piece of driftwood in this floating society.
